My primary school teaching experience has been in different state schools in the Community of Madrid and also in several concerted schools in Madrid. I have had experience in teaching Firts and Second Grades of Primary Education.
The greatest challenge that I run into when teaching young learners is keeping the students engaged. It is easy to get into the habit of teaching in a particular manner (presenting lessons with flashcards and the blackboard, and having students answer activities from their textbooks ), but students often will lose interest and have a lowered desire to continue learning.
Because of this fact, I try to make every one of my lessons interesting and engaging. Many of my lessons have been modified in that even though the students are still learning the same contents, it is presented in a different manner. I will often complete my lessons with other materials, different resources from the internet, videos, songs... Additionally, I always strive to prepare cooperative games, group working, role play and different situations where childresn have to interact with eachother . These simple strategies make lessons more interesting and funnier, and easier to remember.
